HL Deb 25 March 1943 vol 126 c913
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (VISCOUNT CRANBORNE) (Lord Cecil)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name. I think it might be for the convenience of the House if the Consolidated Fund (No. 2) Bill, to which the Motion refers, were given precedence over the Committee stage of the Settled Land and Trustee Acts (Court's General Powers) Bill, in order that a Royal Commission may take place before the remainder of the business on the Paper is taken. If your Lordships agree, it is necessary under Standing Order No. XXI that the noble and learned Viscount on the Woolsack, who is in charge of the Settled Land and Trustee Acts (Court's General Powers) Bill, should consent to the postponement fiat Bill until after the House has dealt with the Consolidated Fund (No. 2) Bill. I am given to understand that he agrees to this course. I beg to move.

Moved, That Standing Order No. XXXIX be considered in order to its being dispensed with for this day's sitting for the purpose of taking the Consolidated Fund (No. 2) Bill through its remaining stages.—(Viscount Cranborne.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
