§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT SIMON)My Lords, I have to inform your Lordships' House that I have received a cable from the President of the National Assembly of Turkey, sent on the occasion of the recent declaration of policy made before the Assembly by Mr. Sarajoglu, the Turkish Prime Minister, in which the latter emphasized and re-affirmed the attachment of Turkey to Anglo-Turkish friendship. The message refers with appreciation to recent statements in this House confirming our friendly relations with Turkey and expresses, in felicitous and moving terms, the support of the Turkish National Assembly for the policy of Anglo-Turkish friendship. Your Lordships will perhaps authorize me to send to the President of the Turkish National Assembly a suitable message in reply.
