HL Deb 07 July 1943 vol 128 c351
VISCOUNT ELIBANK

My Lords, I wish to ask His Majesty's Government whether they will now take steps to create the nucleus of a post-war Navy, Army and Air Force for post-war service in and around Europe and elsewhere and at the same time arrange that those Armed Forces are established on such a basis as will attract the best material in manpower and provide those selected with a career with adequate pay and pensions.

LORD TEMPLEMORE

My Lords, my noble friend the Leader of the House is away on important Government business and I have been asked to reply to this question. I can assure the noble Lord that the importance of the issues he has raised has not escaped the notice of His Majesty's Government, but I am not in a position to make any statement.

VISCOUNT ELIBANK

My Lords, may I say that in view of that answer I shall hope to debate the matter later on?
