HL Deb 18 February 1943 vol 126 cc161-2
LORD DAVIES

My Lords, I beg to ask the question standing on the Paper in my name.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether, in view of the appointment of four representatives from Scottish institutions upon the National Advisory Council for the Recruitment and Distribution of Nurses and Midwives, they will consider the claims of Welsh institutions to representation on this body.]

LORD SNELL

My Lords, my right honourable friend the Minister of Labour and National Service is reluctant to increase further the personnel of the National Advisory Council which he understands is representative of the various interests concerned. So far as England and Wales are affected, nominations for the Council were received from organizations which in general cover both countries.

LORD DAVIES

My Lords, arising out of that reply, may I ask my noble friend whether he is aware that the subject of professional nurses in these institutions in Wales is specially acute, and will he be so kind as to make representations to the Minister that there are special reasons why Wales should be adequately represented on this Council?

LORD SNELL

My Lords, I will see that my noble friend's remarks are conveyed to the Minister of Labour and National Service.

House adjourned.
