HL Deb 22 April 1943 vol 127 c315
LORD BEAVERBROOK

My Lords, the noble Earl, Lord Glasgow, complained yesterday that I had withdrawn a Motion without due notice. I apologize to his Lordship. He did not give me notice of his intention to raise the complaint yester-day or I should have been here then to make my apologies to him. My Motion involved a discussion of the successful progress of the campaign in Tunisia. It was only on Tuesday morning that I learnt that the fighting had been resumed—the attack had developed—and it seemed to me obvious that it was not a convenient time to discuss the subject I had raised. I shall, of course, give the noble Earl another opportunity as soon as the fighting in Tunisia is no longer in progress.
