Order of the Day for consideration of the Fourth Report from the Select Committee read.

The Committee reported as follows:

1.—AccommodationHouse of Lords. Consideration of a scheme for the erection of Galleries in the Chamber at present used by the House of Lords was adjourned.

2.—Civil Service War Bonus. The Committee sanctioned the application of Treasury Circular No. 6/42 for the payment of increased war bonus to the staff of the House of Lords to whom it applies.

3.—A.R.P. Palace of Westminster.

  1. (a) The Committee sanctioned the proportion clue from the House of Lords for the annual payment in respect of the installation of a new emergency telephone cable.
  2. (b) The Committee also sanctioned a weekly increase in pay to the Clerk to the A.R.P. Office and to the Custodian Auxiliaries as recommended by the Fire Committee.

My Lords, in moving that the Report of the Committee be considered, I only wish to draw your Lordships' attention to one point. A scheme for the erection of a gallery was brought before the Committee and after some discussion it was adjourned indefinitely. I move that the Report be now considered.
