HL Deb 24 June 1942 vol 123 c507
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (VISCOUNT CRANBORNE) (Lord Cecil)

My Lords, I regret to have to inform your Lordships that yet another member of this House has given his life in the service of his country. Lieutenant Lord North, who was previously reported missing when His Majesty's Ship "Neptune" was sunk by an enemy mine in the Mediterranean, is now presumed to have lost his life on that occasion. I am sure I shall be interpreting your Lordships' feelings if I take this opportunity of expressing our sympathy with Lady North and the other members of the family.
