My Lords, I beg to ask the question standing in my name:

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government how many persons suffering from tuberculosis and recommended for institutional treatment are at present awaiting admission into tuberculosis hospitals and sanatoria in England, Scotland and Wales, respectively.]

My Lords, the latest information available shows that on 31st March last there were 1,507 persons in England and 400 in Wales who had been on local authority waiting lists for institutional treatment for tuberculosis for upwards of ten days. In Scotland at that date 652 persons had been awaiting admission for upwards of ten days.
