Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a third time. It has been discovered, on a further close examination of the text of the Bill, that in one respect, three times repeated, the words are not entirely clear; and I shall, after the Third Reading, invite your Lordships to make the necessary small and purely technical changes.

Clause 1:

Power to make orders with respect to certain schools.

(3) Without prejudice to the generality of the foregong provisions of this section, any Order in Council or order made thereunder with respect to any school may in particular provide for enabling the governing body of the school—

(a) to apply, during the war period, the income or capital of any endowment of the school for purposes other than those for which, apart from the provisions of the order, such income or capital might be applied;

My Lords, I beg to move, in Clause 1, paragraph (a) of subsection (3), before the word "order," to insert "Order in Council or".
