HL Deb 29 July 1941 vol 119 c967
VISCOUNT SAMUEL

My Lords, I beg to ask the question standing in my name.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government, with reference to the announcement that it is not proposed to continue to publish the shipping losses due to enemy action at regular intervals, but that the Government will consider from time to time the publication of shipping losses as may be required, whether it may be understood that there will in fact be publication, and whether the intervals would not be longer than two or three months.]

LORD SNELL

My Lords, my noble friend the Leader of the House has asked me to make on his behalf the following answer. The question of whether or not shipping losses should be published must be kept under constant review in the light of changing circumstances, but His Majesty's Government will, as stated on July 15, when the last monthly statement was made, consider the publication of further figures from time to time as necessity demands.
