HL Deb 01 May 1940 vol 116 cc226-7
LORD SNELL

My Lords, I beg to ask the noble Earl the Leader of the House if His Majesty's Government have any statement to make on foreign affairs.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (EARL STANHOPE)

My Lords, we have no statement to make to-day, but we hope to be in a position to make a statement to-morrow.

LORD ADDISON

My Lords, before we adjourn I should like to be allowed to intervene on a personal matter. For the second time, as was announced by the noble Earl yesterday, the Motion standing on the Paper in my name relating to the Coal Commission has been postponed at the request of the Department. I am very sorry because a number of noble Lords who had expressed their intention of being here to take part in the discussion may have been put to some inconvenience. I am sorry that the Motion has been postponed, but I was told postponement would suit the convenience of the Department and I want to take this opportunity of saying so.

House adjourned at five minutes past four o'clock.
