HL Deb 19 March 1940 vol 115 c909

Order of the Day for the Report of the Amendments read.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR DOMINION AFFAIRS (THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE)

My Lords, in moving that this Report he now received, I must apologise to the House for having inadvertently, by a slip of the tongue yesterday, perhaps slightly misled the House. I was referring to an imaginary case of a man who might be in receipt of a disability pension, and I said that the Board would be compelled to disregard not only that pension but also the 10s. statutory minimum old age pension which he would receive. There I was mistaken, and I beg leave to correct that mistake and to apologise to the House.

Moved, That the Report be now received.—(The Duke of Devonshire.)

On Question, Motion agreed to; Amendments reported accordingly.

Then, Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended, Bill read 3ª, with the Amendments, and passed, and returned to the Commons.
