HL Deb 18 July 1940 vol 116 c1044

4.23 p.m.

LORD ADDISON

My Lords, may I ask the noble Lord, the Under-Secretary of State for War, if he can give the House any information as to the issue of military identity certificates for the use of members of this House?

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (LORD CROFT)

My Lords, these certificates will be issued from the office of the Lord Great Chamberlain in the House of Lords. Peers desiring to be furnished with a certificate are asked to attend at the office of the Lord Great Chamberlain on or after Monday next, bringing with them a small passport photograph. They will then be asked to fill in the form and the official stamp and endorsement will be affixed. In view of the nature of the document it is impossible that the form should be issued in blank for Peers to complete otherwise than in the presence of the issuing authority. Instructions in accordance with what I have stated will be issued with the Whip in due course.
