Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT SIMON)

My Lords, I beg to move the Second Reading of this Bill which, as your Lordships know, is an annual Bill that must receive the Royal Assent by the end of this month. It extends the duration of various temporary Acts for another year for one reason or another until they can be dealt with in a more permanent fashion than is at present possible. When I call your Lordships' attention to the fact that the Bill is the same word for word which your Lordships approved and passed last year I do not think you will desire any further explanation from me.
