HL Deb 13 August 1940 vol 117 c164
LORD ADDISON

My Lords, may I ask the Leader of the House whether there will be an opportunity before the Recess for any statement to be made in this House on the progress of the war and for a possible discussion upon it?

VISCOUNT CALDECOTE

My Lords, it is proposed at present that a statement should be made upon the progress of the war, and, if your Lordships thought it convenient, an opportunity would then arise for a discussion to follow the statement that is made. Perhaps the noble Lord opposite and noble Lords on the Liberal Benches would therefore let it be known through the usual channels whether they concur in that suggestion.
