HL Deb 14 September 1939 vol 114 c1078

3.19 p.m.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (EARL STANHOPE)

My Lords, it will only be necessary to hold a formal sitting of your Lordships' House tomorrow in order to take the First Reading of four Bills which will come to us from another place, including the Bill I mentioned yesterday for the control of employment. I propose that we should take the Second Reading of these Bills on Wednesday of next week, and the remaining stages on Thursday, followed by a Royal Commission. I propose, therefore, apart from the formal sitting to-morrow, that we should adjourn from now until Wednesday, and our meeting on Wednesday will be at four o'clock instead of three. The formal sitting tomorrow will be at four o'clock, and then, as I have said, we shall meet again next Wednesday at four o'clock also.

House adjourned at twenty minutes past four o'clock.
