THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (THE MARQUESS OF ZETLAND)

My Lords, this small Bill consists of two clauses of a miscellaneous Government of India Act (Amendment) Bill which has already passed through all its stages in your Lordships' House and which has been held up in another place. I explained the need for these two clauses when the Bill was originally before your Lordships. In those circumstances it is perhaps not necessary for me to repeat the explanation again. I beg to move the Bill be read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Marquess of Zetland.)

On Question, Bill read 2a: Committee negatived.

Bill read 3a, and passed, and a Message sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
