HL Deb 10 October 1939 vol 114 c1334
EARL STANHOPE

My Lords, I told your Lordships last week that I expected that the Government would be in a position to make the usual weekly statement to-morrow, Wednesday. I understand now that the statement will not be ready until Thursday, but the noble and learned Viscount on the Woolsack has been good enough to arrange that the judicial sitting on that day shall be over in time for us to meet at three o'clock instead of at a quarter past four. When we meet at three o'clock we shall take the Finance Bill and put it through all its stages. We shall follow that with the Government's statement of policy and any debate which your Lordships may wish to make upon it. I think that is all I wish to say: tomorrow we shall meet at three o'clock, as I originally stated, and we shall meet at three o'clock on Thursday for the Finance Bill and the Government's statement.

House adjourned at eighteen minutes past four o'clock.
