HL Deb 02 November 1939 vol 114 cc1693-4

6.17 p.m.

LORD MOTTISTONE

had the following Notice on the Paper: To ask His Majesty's Government whether they will take steps now in consultation with other Governments to diminish the tragedy of suffering and want which now prevails in all parts of Poland and which is going to grow much worse this winter, and move for Papers. The noble Lord said: My Lords, with regard to the Motion standing in my name, I understand that a number of noble Lords wish to take part in the debate on Polish distress, and also that my noble friend the Foreign Secretary would find it convenient if it were postponed, as the hour is somewhat late now. Therefore, with his agreement, I will postpone the Motion until Tuesday next.
