HL Deb 15 June 1939 vol 113 c496
THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF ONSLOW)

My Lords, Standing Order No. 107 requires that no Petition against a Private Bill brought from the House of Commons shall be received by your Lordships' House later than the seventh day after the First Reading. The petitioning time for this Bill expired on June 1. A Petition in respect of this Bill was received by the agents—not owing to the fault of the Petitioners, I think, but owing to a delay in the post—after the petitioning time had expired. The agents therefore asked that this Standing Order might be dispensed with in order that they might present a Petition. I may say that the agents for the promoters have raised no objection. I beg to move the Motion standing in my name.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 107 be considered in order to its being dispensed with in respect of a Petition of Tennant Brothers Limited.—(The Earl of Onslow.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
