HL Deb 25 July 1939 vol 114 c516

[The references are to Bill No. 34.]

In the Title, line 3, leave out ("the prohibition of night shooting").

LORD SEMPILL

My Lords, the Amendments to the Bill made by the Commons will have been studied, and they are mainly Amendments of a drafting nature, with one exception, in which it is suggested that the law under the Ground Game Act, 1880, with respect to night shooting, should remain as it is. That, as your Lordships will remember, was the original recommendation of the Committee presided over by the noble Viscount, Lord Mersey, which was amended when the Bill left your Lordships' House. If, with your Lordships' permission, I might take the Amendments on the Paper, the first Amendment is in the Title, to leave out "the prohibition of night shooting." That is also referred to in subsequent Amendments, and I beg to move that the House doth agree with the Commons Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Sempill.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
