HL Deb 12 July 1939 vol 114 c122

Clause 55, page 54, line 12, leave out ("penalties") and insert ("fines, not in any case exceeding fifty pounds")

The Commons propose to amend the above Amendment as follows: At end insert ("or imprisonment not exceeding three months")

THE EARL OF MUNSTER

My Lords, this Amendment, I think, is self-explanatory. It merely adds to the provision of a monetary penalty, punishment by imprisonment as well. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Munster.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
