HL Deb 01 November 1938 vol 110 c1507
LORD SNELL

My Lords, I beg to ask whether His Majesty's Government have any statement to make on the Anglo-Italian Agreement

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (VISCOUNT HALIFAX)

My Lords, it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to bring the Anglo-Italian Agreement into force as soon as possible. In accordance with the statement which my right honourable friend the Prime Minister made in another place on July 11, Parliament should have an opportunity of debating this question, and accordingly I propose to table a Motion to-night, which your Lordships, if you so desire, may debate on Thursday. The Motion will be in the following terms:

"That this House welcomes the intention of His Majesty's Government to bring the Anglo-Italian Agreement into force."
