HL Deb 16 May 1938 vol 109 cc23-4

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE EARL OF LUCAN

My Lords, this is a small Bill to confirm a scheme of the Charity Commissioners with regard to a piece of land called the Poor's Allotment in Hanwell. Its purpose was to provide fuel for the inhabitants of Hanwell. The management of the charity have now been offered by the Ealing Borough Council £1,000 for the land, and as acceptance of this would rather alter the trust it is necessary to get the authority of Parliament. The money received for the land will be used to provide fuel for the poor in Hanwell, which was the original scheme. I understand that no objections have been made to the proposal, and I beg to move that the Bill be read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.— (The Earl of Lucan.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
