§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (EARL STANHOPE)My Lords, perhaps I may take the opportunity, in moving the adjournment, to say that I find that my surmise that a large number of your Lordships would wish to speak on the Second Reading of the Coal Bill is correct. It is likely that there will be more than twenty speakers, and therefore the debate will have to take place on Tuesday (to-morrow), Wednesday and Thursday. As your Lordships know, a Motion is on the Paper in the name of Lord Denvent for Wednesday, and therefore, if your Lordships agree, I suggest that the House should meet at three o'clock on Wednesday, take Lord Derwent's Motion and, when the discussion on it is complete, go on with the Coal Bill. I suggest therefore that we should meet at our usual hour of a quarter past four to-morrow, meet at three o'clock on Wednesday to take Lord Derwent's Motion, and on Thursday—when I hope we shall be able to complete our Second Reading debate on the Coal Bill—at the usual time—a quarter past four.
§ House adjourned at a quarter past six o'clock.
