HL Deb 21 July 1938 vol 110 cc1082-3
LORD SNELL

My Lords, may I ask if the noble Earl the Leader of the House is able to say anything about the future business of the House?

EARL STANHOPE

My Lords, I should like to be allowed to inform your Lordships that it is proposed that there should be a more or less formal sitting of the House to-morrow at four o'clock, chiefly to receive the Holidays with Pay Bill, in order that it may receive a First Reading and then be able to be considered on Second Reading on Monday. Next week I suggest to your Lordships that we should meet at three o'clock on Monday. We shall have several Second Readings, including that of the Bill which I have just mentioned. I also propose that we should meet at three o'clock on Wednesday, but that we should meet at the usual time, 4.15 p.m., on Tuesday and Thursday. I hope that on Friday we shall be able to adjourn for the Recess. I am afraid it will be necessary to meet on that day, because I understand that we shall not get the Appropriation Bill until that morning, so that it will be necessary to have a sitting, but only a formal one. The sittings will therefore be: Monday and Wednesday at three, Tuesday and Thursday at 4.15 p.m., and on Friday in the morning, presumably at eleven o'clock.
