HL Deb 14 July 1938 vol 110 cc873-4

First Schedule, page 50, line 8, at end, insert: ("2. At least two of the members of the Commission shall be persons who have had administrative or other practical experience in the coal-mining industry")

The Commons propose to amend the above Amendment as follows:

At end insert ("and one of those two members shall be a person who has been a wage-earner in the coal-mining industry.")

THE EARL OF MUNSTER

My Lords, this Amendment is practically self-explanatory. The Commons thought it desirable that one of the two individuals mentioned in the Lords Amendment should be a wage earner—in other words, an ex-miner. I accordingly beg to move that the Amendment proposed by the Commons to the Lords Amendment be agreed to.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment to the Lords Amendment.—(The Earl of Munster.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
