HL Deb 08 December 1938 vol 111 c468
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (THE MARQUESS OF ZETLAND)

My Lords, I am afraid it will be necessary to ask your Lordships to sit on Monday at a quarter past four o'clock in order to give a Second Reading to the Housing (Financial Provisions) (Scotland) Bill which has just been received from another place. His Majesty's Government hope that this measure will pass through all its stages and receive the Royal Assent before the Christmas Recess, in order that the Scottish local authorities may enjoy the advantages of the new rates of subsidies provided under the Bill from the beginning of the New Year. With this in view we hope to be able to take the Committee stage of the Bill on Thursday next, December 15, when the House will sit at three o'clock, and the remaining stages early the following week.

House adjourned at twenty-seven minutes before seven o'clock.
