HL Deb 09 March 1937 vol 104 c533
THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF ONSLOW)

My Lords, I beg to move that Standing Order No. 105 be considered in order to it being dispensed with in respect of the Hastings Extension Bill. I ought to explain that Standing Order No. 105 requires that a Private Bill originating in your Lordships' House shall be read a second time not later than seven days after the First Reading. This Bill was read a first time on January 28 and has been waiting since then for the Report of the Attorney-General. That Report was received only on Wednesday last and so it is necessary to ask your Lordships to suspend the Standing Order in order that the Bill may be read a second time.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 105 be considered in order to it being dispensed with in respect of the said Bill.—(The Earl of Onslow.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

THE EARL OF ONSLOW

My Lords, I beg to move that the Bill be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a—(The Earl of Onslow.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed.
