My Lords, I beg to move that His Majesty's Message, communicated to your Lordships' House yesterday, be now considered.

VISCOUNT HALIFAX

My Lords, I now beg to move, That an humble Address be presented to His Majesty thanking His Majesty for His most gracious communication recommending this House to consider contingencies which may hereafter arise and to make such provision as will in any event secure the exercise of the Royal Authority; and to assure His Majesty that this House will adopt such measures as may appear to be necessary or expedient for securing the purposes to which His Majesty has alluded.

Your Lordships will, I understand, receive in due course from another place the Bill containing the proposals of His Majesty's Government to meet His Majesty's wishes as expressed in the gracious Message communicated to your Lordships' House yesterday, and I have no doubt that on that receipt your Lordships will be anxious to give consideration to it with as much expedition as possible. I beg to move.
