HL Deb 26 January 1937 vol 104 cc3-4
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (VISCOUNT HALIFAX)

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do now adjourn, and I have no doubt that your Lordships will both allow and wish me, in doing so, to say with what pleasure it is that we see the noble and learned Viscount again upon the Woolsack.

NOBLE LORDS

Hear, hear.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT HAILSHAM)

My Lords, in putting the Question I should like to express my obligation to the Leader of the House for what he has been good enough to say, and to your Lordships' House generally for the generous way in which you have received his observations. Also, I am very sensible of the fact that but for your Lordships' generosity last autumn I could not have been back on the Woolsack to-day. I am very much obliged to your Lordships for that. I am also very greatly indebted to the Lord Chairman of Committees and to the members of the Chairman's Panel for the ready help which enabled the despatch of public business in your Lordships' House to be completed without any delay or any interference owing to my unfortunate absence.

Moved accordingly, and, on Question, Motion agreed to.

House adjourned at twenty-eight minutes past four o'clock.
