Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Second Report from the Select Committee.

The Committee reported as follows:

1. MARRIAGE GRATUITY.

The Committee sanctioned a marriage gratuity of £498 3s. 0d. under Treasury Minutes of 17th March, 1894, and 21st November, 1895, to Miss M. E. Waterman, Examiner of Acts, who had resigned after eighteen years' service.

2. ACCOUNTING AND COPYING DEPARTMENTS.

The Committee sanctioned the following appointments consequent upon the resignation of Miss M. E. Waterman:

  1. (1) Mr. Percy Johnson, lately clerical officer in the Public Trustee Office, to be Assistant Accountant.
  2. (2) Miss W. M. J. Phipps to be Examiner of Local Acts.
  3. These two appointments to be on the scale £337—£18—£515 and to date from 16th April and 1st May respectively.
  4. 3. Miss R. J. Griffith to be a clerical assistant with salary on scale £166—£10—£337.

This appointment to date from 20th April, 1936.

3. PARLIAMENTARY OFFICE MESSENGERS.

The Committee sanctioned the appointment of an additional messenger in the Parliament Office consequent on the temporary re-allocation of accommodation in the Palace.
