HL Deb 01 July 1936 vol 101 c353

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE EARL OF FEVERSHAM

My Lords, the object of this Bill is to confirm three Provisional Orders made by my right honourable friend the Secretary of State under the Marriages Validity (Provisional Orders) Acts, 1905 and 1924. In each case the doubt as to the validity of the marriages arises from the status of the building in which the ceremonies were conducted. The Orders to be confirmed by the Bill are therefore the normal type of Marriages Provisional Orders, and your Lordships will no doubt recall that these Orders have no effect until they are confirmed by Parliament. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Earl of Feversham.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed.
