HL Deb 23 January 1936 vol 99 c362
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (VISCOUNT HALIFAX)

My Lords, the House will now, pursuant to the Motion agreed to yesterday, adjourn to Westminster Hall, to receive the remains of His late Majesty King George V. In case there may be here to-day some noble Lords who were not here yesterday, and who therefore will not have in mind the few remarks I then made, perhaps I might again give the House an indication of the procedure that it would seem appropriate to follow. The House will follow the Lord Chancellor as far as possible in precedence of rank, forming a procession four abreast in the Peers' Lobby. On reaching Westminster Hall, the procession will pass to the far side of the Hall, and the Lord Chancellor will take up his stand about the centre of the Hall. Those immediately following him will pass on down the Hall two abreast, as the space is narrow, until that end of the Hall is full; and the remainder of the House will occupy the space at the St. Stephen's porch end of the Hall. When the short service is over, the Lord Chancellor's procession will pass down in front of the Peers to the New Palace Yard entrance to the Hall, and lead the House in double file past the catafalque and back into the House.

House adjourned to Westminster Hall to attend the funeral ceremonies of His late Majesty King George V.

House returned to the Chamber of Parliament.

Several Peers—Took the Oath.
