HL Deb 04 February 1936 vol 99 cc375-6
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (VISCOUNT HALIFAX)

My Lords, I have the honour to report to your Lordships that, with other members of your Lordships' House, I waited upon Her Majesty Queen Mary this morning, when we had the honour of communicating to Her Majesty the terms of the Address passed by your Lordships on Thursday, January 23. I have here Her Majesty's gracious reply, signed by Her Majesty's own hand, which I will ask the Lord Chancellor to read to the House.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT HAILSHAM) read the reply as follows:

"I thank you with all My heart for your message of condolence, which helps to sustain Me in My grief. I am deeply sensible of the warmth of your sympathy, and I prize the assurance which you give Me of the unalterable affection of your House.

(Sgd.) MARY."
