HL Deb 30 July 1935 vol 98 c954
LORD MARLEY

My Lords, before the House adjourns, could the noble Earl give us any information as to the business for the rest of this week and after the Recess?

THE EARL OF LUCAN

My Lords, I can tell the noble Lord that to-morrow, besides what he sees on the Paper—namely, consideration of the Commons Amendments to the. Housing Bill—the Lord Bishop of Winchester is raising a debate regarding the Reports of the Commissioners for the Special Areas. The Question by the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury regarding Assyrians in Iraq has been postponed. On Thursday there will be consideration of the Commons Amendments to the Restriction of Ribbon Development Bill, the Government of India Bill and the Housing (Scotland) Bill. As the noble Lord is aware, these Bills are being discussed in another place now. They will come to us to-morrow, and be considered on Thursday. In addition to that, Lord Cranworth has a Question down regarding Attested Herds. It is proposed that the House should meet on Friday morning, when, probably, the Consolidated Fund Bill will be put through all its stages, and a Royal Commission will be held to give the Royal Assent to a number of Bills and Measures.

LORD MARLEY

It will be purely formal on Friday?

THE EARL OF LUCAN

Purely formal. As regards the Adjournment, it is proposed that the House should adjourn on Friday next until Tuesday, October 29, subject to the usual Motion empowering the Lord Chancellor to call the House together should circumstances arise which render it necessary for the House to meet before that date.

LORD MARLEY

I am much obliged to the noble Earl for the information.
