HL Deb 28 February 1935 vol 95 cc1142-3
LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

My Lords, before we adjourn, may I ask if the Leader of the House can tell us anything about the business for next week?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (VISCOUNT HAILSHAM)

My Lords, we have quite a moderate bill of fare next week. On Tuesday there are two formal Orders with regard to Sunday entertainments in the name of my noble friend the Earl of Feversham, and we propose also to take the Committee stage of the Bill which has just received a Second Reading. I think everybody will agree that it is desirable to push on with it as quickly as possible. There is at present no business down for Wednesday; therefore, unless any noble Lord gives notice of a Motion, I propose that we shall not sit on Wednesday. On Thursday the Committee stage of a Bill of my noble and learned friend Lord Merrivale, the Matrimonial Causes (Amended Procedure) Bill, will be taken, and I understand that my noble friend Lord Rockley has an Address asking for leave to introduce some Bill with regard to life Peers. The Motion will be the necessary pre- liminary one asking His Majesty's consent to deal with a matter which affects the Royal Prerogative. I do not suppose there will be a very long debate on that, but of course we shall see when the Motion is down. I think that is all the business for next week.
