HL Deb 27 February 1935 vol 95 c1089
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR AIR (THE MARQUESS OF LONDONDERRY)

My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend the Leader of the House, Viscount Hailsham, I desire to move the Resolution which stands in his name upon the Order Paper. I invite your Lordships to accept this Motion in order to relieve the noble Earl the Lord Chairman, the Earl of Onslow, from occupying the Chair in your Lordships' House, which he is unable to do at present, because of urgent private affairs with which I know all your Lordships will sympathise.

Moved, That the Lord Stanmore be appointed to take the Chair in all Committees of this House in the temporary absence of the Earl of Onslow; that the Lord Stanmore do take the Chair in all Committees of the Whole House unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House; that the Lord Stanmore do also take the Chair in all Committees upon Private Bills and other matters unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House.—(The Marquess of Londonderry.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
