HL Deb 01 August 1935 vol 98 c1068

Clause 16, page 19, line 36. The Commons have re-inserted Clause 16 (which was formally omitted by the Lords, on Third Reading, as a Privilege Amendment) in, the following form:

Provisions as to local inquiries.

(". The Minister may hold an inquiry in connection with any matter as to which he is authorised to act under this Act and the provisions of subsections (2) (3) (4) and (5) of Section two hundred and ninety of the Local Government Act, 1933, shall apply to any such inquiry as they apply to local inquiries held under that section but as if for references to a Department there were substituted therein references to the Minister.")

My Lords, in substance this is the same clause as Clause 16 printed in the Bill. Its drafting is slightly improved. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Plymouth.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
