HL Deb 01 August 1935 vol 98 c1033

Page 5, line 26, leave out from ("date") to the end of the clause.

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH

My Lords, this is really consequential. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Plymouth.)

LORD HASTINGS

My Lords, I do not know whether the noble Earl is justified in calling this consequential. I remember very well there was a strong feeling of distrust expressed in this House in the local authorities who, it was suspected, might succumb to the temptation to use these fences and posts for advertisement purposes. An Amendment was inserted in this House making it impossible to do so, and now this is excised.

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH

My Lords, this is consequential on the acceptance of the last Amendment.

LORD HASTINGS

I think that probably is so. I beg the noble Earl's pardon.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
