HL Deb 15 November 1934 vol 94 c494

Page 28, line 17, leave out from ("require") to the end of line 20 and insert ("for the purpose of ascertaining whether the provisions of this Schedule have been complied with.")

THE MARQUESS OF LONDONDERRY

My Lords, the effect of this Amendment is to require the operator to furnish to the accountant a complete statement of accounts giving all such information as he may require "for the purpose of ascertaining whether the provisions of this Schedule have been complied with." Those last words, the words which appear in the Commons Amendment, are new, and while in one sense they are limiting, they are nevertheless wide enough to empower the accountant to require all relevant information. It is therefore not necessary to retain the words which at present appear at the end of paragraph 5 giving examples of the information which may be required by the accountant. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Marquess of Londonderry.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
