HL Deb 13 June 1934 vol 92 c1080
LORD PONSONBY of SHULBREDE

My Lords, may I ask the Leader of the House if he would be good enough to tell us if there is any change in the business to-morrow, and if a Bill which is expected to come from the other House will be debated this week or next week?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (VISCOUNT HAILSHAM)

My Lords, I am much obliged to the noble Lord for asking this question. The Bill referred to is the Statutory Salaries (Restoration) Bill. I had hoped if that Bill had reached your Lordships this afternoon that we should have taken the Second Reading to-morrow, because the matter is one of very considerable urgency from the administrative point of view. Unfortunately I am told that it cannot reach here until very late to-night. In those circumstances I am proposing to take the Second Reading on Tuesday, and I may ask your Lordships to suspend the Standing Order for some of the later stages.

House adjourned at twenty-seven minutes past five o'clock.
