HL Deb 30 July 1934 vol 93 c1185
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT SANKEY)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name. This Amendment to the Standing Orders regulating judicial proceedings in this House is rendered necessary by Section 1 of the new Administration of Justice (Appeals) Act, 1934, which enables the House to make such order as it thinks fit to arrange for the consideration of applications for leave to appeal, which that Act requires in all appeals to this House.

Moved, That the following Standing Order be made and added to those applicable to appeals in this House: Ordered, That all petitions of appeal in appeals in which the leave of the House is required under the Administration of Justice (Appeals) Act, 1934, be referred to the Appeal Committee to consider whether such leave should be granted.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

The said Order to be added to those now applicable to appeals in this House; to be numbered II; and to be printed.
