HL Deb 26 July 1934 vol 93 c1177

Clause 8, page 7, line 5, at end insert: ("A whale fishery inspector shall, in respect of each day during which he is provided in pursuance of this subsection with subsistence and accommodation on board a ship, pay to the master of the ship such sum as may be prescribed by regulations made by the licensing authority with the approval of the Treasury.")

EARL DE LA WARR

My Lords, this Amendment is intended to enable payment to be made for the subsistence and accommodation of inspectors. I beg to move.

Moved, That tills; House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl De La Warr.)

LORD STRABOLGI

My Lords, this certainly seems to be an improvement. If I read it correctly, it makes it obligatory on the fishery inspector to pay something for his subsistence. It is obviously better that he should do so and not be dependent on the hospitality of the master of the ship. If it is obligatory, I think this Amendment is certainly acceptable.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
