HL Deb 16 November 1933 vol 89 cc438-9

Order of the Day read for the consideration of Commons Amendments.

VISCOUNT BUCKMASTER

My Lords, I beg to move that these Amendments be now considered, and, perhaps, as this is the last occasion I can say anything about this Bill, your Lordships will permit me to say just one or two words. In the first place, I want to express my deep sense of gratitude to the Special Committee of this House for the care they spent in examining this measure in the Committee rooms. It was due to their labour that it was possible to place this Bill on a wholly unassailable foundation. In the next place, I want most sincerely to thank the Government who have found time, notwithstanding all their anxious and arduous duties, to do what perhaps may not inappropriately be described as taking this Bill under their wing. This Bill was sent out from this House on its perilous journey to another place, and it has returned to the Ark from which it was despatched with only two small Amendments in its beak, which I shall ask your Lordships to consider in a few moments if you agree to give consideration to them.

Moved, That the Commons Amendments he now considered.—(Viscount Buckmaster.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
