HL Deb 16 November 1933 vol 89 c432

Clause 145, page 88, line 37, at end insert ("(7) An order made under this section, other than an order which is provisional only, shall be laid before Parliament as soon as may be after it is made.")

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, this Amendment is a little different. A similar subsection, reproducing the existing law, was in the draft Bill prepared by the Chelmsford Committee, but was deleted by the Joint Select Committee. The matter was raised on Report stage in this House by Lord Ampthill, and on behalf of the Government I promised that the matter should receive further consideration. The County Councils' Association have since pressed for the reinsertion of the subsection. The Government have no objection, and indeed they think it the proper thing to do.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
