HL Deb 16 November 1933 vol 89 c436

Second Schedule, page 190, line 45, leave out ("fill op") and insert ("prepare for signature").

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, paragraph (6) of Part II of Schedules of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1882, has the words "shall, at the request of any burgess, fill up a nomination paper." By the Representation of the People Act, 1918, the term "local government elector" was substituted for "burgess." The provision in the Municipal Corporations Act, 1882, was applied to county council elections by the Local Government Act, 1888. The provision means that the proper officer, the returning officer or town clerk, shall upon request fill up a nomination paper, apart, of course, from the signatures of the persons subscribing the nomination paper. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
