HL Deb 14 November 1932 vol 85 cc1303-4
THE EARL OF LUCAN

My Lords, before the House adjourns, I should like to say that it is proposed to take the Third Reading of the Ottawa Agreements Bill as the first Order to-morrow, and that there will be later a Royal Commission to give the Royal Assent to the Ottawa Bill.

LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

To-morrow?

THE EARL OF LUCAN

To-morrow. I would like to inform your Lordships that Lord Denbigh's Question on Russia is going to be postponed, and will probably have to go over to next Session. I should also tell your Lordships that it is proposed to take to-morrow the Transitional Payments (Determination of Need) Bill. It is expected to be received from the House of Commons at some time to-morrow evening, and it is proposed to have a formal House to give it a First Reading, and to take the Second Reading of it on Wednesday. I understand that it will probably be a certified Bill, so that there will be only two stages required. In that case the House will probably meet at 11 o'clock on Thursday morning and take the remaining stage of that Bill, and there will then be a Royal Commission for the Prorogation early on Thursday, at some time in the morning.

LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

I am much obliged to the noble Earl, Lord Lucan, for giving us this information. May I take it that the Bishop of Winchester's Question on housing will come on as anticipated on Wednesday? I think the noble Earl said that the Transitional Payments (Determination of Need) Bill would be taken on Wednesday. Does he mean through all its stages, or only through Second Reading?

THE EARL OF LUCAN

I think that Bill will be taken then only on Second Reading, and as it will be a certified Bill, there will be only the further Third Reading stage.

LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

On Thursday?

THE EARL OF LUCAN

On Thursday. As regards the Bishop of Winchester's Question, it will come on as arranged.

House adjourned at ten minutes past seven o'clock.
