§ LORD JESSELMy Lords, before we proceed further, may I ask the noble and learned Viscount the Leader of the House whether, in view of the fact that the debate on Lord Cranworth's Motion is likely to occupy a good deal of time when it comes on this afternoon, and as several speakers besides myself wish to speak on the Motion to carry over the 1002 London Passenger Transport Bill, he can see his way to postpone that Motion until Tuesday?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (VISCOUNT HAILSHAM)My Lords, my noble friend mentioned this matter to me a few moments ago. Your Lordships will realise that it is essential that we should dispose of this matter in some way, and dispose of it soon, because when the Ottawa Agreements Bill comes to this House it will occupy a good deal of time. If, however, as the noble Lord says, there are more than one or two, noble Lords who desire to speak on the London Passenger Transport Bill, I think his suggestion that it should go over until Tuesday is a very reasonable one. Of course I cannot give any guarantee as to when it will come on then—there is other business and it will have to take its place—but I have no objection to its being postponed till Tuesday if that meets the general convenience of the House.
