HL Deb 25 May 1932 vol 84 cc442-3

[The references are to Bill No. 25.]

Clause 2, page 4, line 13, at end insert ("Nothing in the foregoing provisions of this section, or of any ordinance made there-under, shall prejudice any rights reserved to the Free Church of Scotland by the Order entitled 'Assembly Records, Libraries, &c.,' and dated the twenty-ninth day of November, nineteen hundred and nine, made by the Commissioners under the Churches (Scotland) Act, 1905.")

LORD STRATHCONA AND MOUNT ROYAL

My Lords, I beg to move that we agree with the Commons in this Amendment. These words are inserted merely to protect the rights of the Free Church under the Order referred to. It was not intended that anything done under the clause should affect any rights of the Free Church under the Order of the Commissioners under the Act of 1905, with regard to access to the library, &c. The Amendment does no more than provide so specifically.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Strathcona and Mount Royal.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
